How to measure a child


How nice it is for busy parents (grandmothers, friends, etc...) to shop online! When buying children's clothes online it helps to have measurements of a child to judge which size will best fit. This will also help prevent an unnecessary returns for improper fit. Of course this isn't always a reality and that is why our sizing charts can help you make your best decision.

Our tips for a proper CLOTHING fit for children:
  • Know the child's approximate weight and height. Weigh the child and measure approximate height by having the child lie down or stand against a wall. We recommend measurements in inches.
  • Measuring the child's waist. It's hard when they wiggle about, but again, an approximate measurement can help.
  • Measure the child's inseam. This is easiest by using a pair of pants that properly fit. The inseam is the measurment up the inside of the leg from the ankle hemline to the crotch seam.
Our tips for a proper HAT fit for children:
Measure the circumference around the child's head. The best place to measure is just above the ears.
